The Connecticut Region 1 Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) program is based on the principles & guidelines provided by the Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (C-TECC) and meets the goals & objectives  outlined by the Education & Training Committee of the CT EMS Advisory Board. The course provides foundational response & medical care education during dynamic incidents for public safety personnel (Police, EMS, Fire, Public Safety & Hospital E/D staff).

Funding for this program was made possible by the Connecticut DESPP/DEMHS Region 1 Emergency Planning Team.

Restrictions

This program is restricted to active CT Region 1 public safety personnel who have the authorization of their service chief or department head to participate in this program.

The Connecticut Region 1 TECC Program is a combination of classroom and field education that requires participants to work in low light, physcally strenuous conditions requiring bending, kneeling, running, lifting and carrying. Students will participate in simulation exercises that may have low light, loud background noise and austere conditions. 

By registering, students attest to their physical and mental ability to operate and perform in these types of conditions. The Lead Program Instructor has the ability and authority to limit or restrict student participation at anytime during the program.

ALL PARTICIPANTS-

Safety is the number 1 priority! Absolutely no weapons will be allowed anywhere within the school or on the training grounds during simulation exercises. This includes firearms, Taser/Conducted Electrical Weapon, chemical and edged weapons. The Fairfield Fire Training School, it's employees and the TECC instructors will not allow or secure weapons for any student.

Program requirements for all students:

  1. Lunch/Snacks! This program will be full day with few breaks and no opportunity to leave for food. Refridgeration will be available. (Water will be provided)
  2. Notebook/Tablet/Computer for notes
  3. Pen
  4. Appropriate, laced over the ankle footwear 
  5. BDU type/ cargo pocket pants with a belt (No shorts/No jeans)
  6. Appropriate T-shirt/Sweatshirt/Job Shirt
  7. Foul weather gear
  8. ANSI Safety goggles/glasses
  9. Hair must be kept above the collar and secured
  10. Baseball style or "jungle" hat for outdoors (no hats in classroom)
  11. Flashlight
  12. Ear protection

Optional:

  1. Department ballistic protection (Carrier/Plates/Helmet)
  2. Knee pads (Highly recommended)
  3. Department specific carrying devices
  4. Department Specialty Patient Care equipment (Triage/Hemmorhage Control Bags, Blow-out Bags, IFAK)
